Artist and mother Mehrangiz Eminpour was killed in the Israeli attacks on Tehran on Monday June 2. PEN Sydney extends our condolences to her ex-husband and father of their children writer Reza Khandan Mahabadi.
Reza Khandan Mahabadi, a writer and member of the Iranian Writers’ Association who was imprisoned several times, posted on his Instagram account: “Mehrangiz was a painter and the mother of my children, Arash and Bahar. Mehrangiz was the beauty of my children’s lives. The war between two reactionary and warmongering governments, two days ago, took away the beauty of their lives. In this land, the ugliness, many Mehrangizs, many beauties, have been thrown to the ground, to establish the throne of their vile government.“
PEN Sydney extends our condolences to Reza and his children. We support Reza’s statement condemning the war between two reactionary forces that has led to the death of hundreds of innocent people like Mehrangiz. In war freedom and truth are the immediate casualties.
