The Painted Chairs - a fundraiser for Sydney PEN — 26.05.2010

A twist on Sydney PEN’s The Empty Chair campaign on behalf of imprisoned writers, 15 artists created original artworks from chairs of their choosing. On Thursday June 3, we auctioned The Painted Chairs at the Ken Done Gallery in The Rocks, Sydney. Despite the rain and a global financial crisis not far behind, a great crowd of supporters gathered to help us successfully raise a funding platform for our projects in the second half of the year.
Sydney PEN thanks the artists for donating the proceeds of their chairs' sale to Sydney PEN.
We also thank the partners of The Painted Chairs: Copyright Agency Limited, Sydney Writers' Festival and the University of Technology, Sydney.
And we acknowledge the valued volunteers and in-kind sponsors of this project: Ken Done Gallery, Mediaways, Art Van Go, Permanent Wave Media, Susie Eisenhuth and Clive Collins, Michael McCaffery and Greg Ferris.
